SHERIFF'S OFFICE MERIT COMMISSION TESTING OPPORTUNITY

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Merit Commission will be conducting testing to establish a hiring eligibility list for the positions of Correctional Officer and Deputy Sheriff.  Applications may be picked up and returned to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office at 403 East Main St. in Benton from now until Friday, August 10th, 2018 by 4:00 pm that day.  
 
The testing for Deputy Sheriff will consist of a physical agility test, (state power test) and written exam.
 
The testing for Correctional Officer will consist of an untimed one mile walk and the ability to lift 40lbs.  
 
The testing will be conducted on Saturday, August 11th, 2018 at 8:00 am.  Further instructions concerning the location for the testing and the written exam will be provided to the applicant upon returning their application and resume to the Sheriff’s Office.
 
All applicants who seek employment with the Sheriff’s Office must be at least 21 years of age, have a high school diploma or its equivalent, possess a valid driver’s license, be a resident of Franklin County within one year of employment, have a clear criminal record concerning felonies and/or serious misdemeanors and be able to pass a background investigation prior to employment. An applicant may be required to pass a medical exam and drug test.  The testing procedure may also consist of one or more oral interviews by the Merit Commission and/or Sheriff.  The testing procedure is subject to the appropriate state statues as well as the policy and rules of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Merit Commission.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

-      High school diploma or GED required, degree work preferred

-      Illinois Professional Emergency Manager (IPEM) accreditation preferred.

NOTE: Hire will be subject to educational requirements at the discretion of the Office of the Director.

 
WORK HOURS & LOCATION/AGENCY CONTACT
 
Work is performed under the general supervision of the Office of the Director, reporting to the Deputy Director at Emergency Management Headquarters in Benton, Illinois. Office hours will vary as required by management.
